Taco Bell is adding fajita ingredients to some of its fan-favorite menu items.
Starting Thursday, the chain introduced Fajita Street Chalupas and Chicken Fajita Nacho Fries to its menu, adding fresh, seasoned peppers and onions to two beloved menu staples.
The new additions allow Taco Bell to adapt a more labor-intensive Tex-Mex dish into an easy, quick option for diners without the need for a sizzling metal plate.
“After years of testing and fan feedback, Taco Bell landed on a portable new take that keeps the bold peppers, onions and savory flavor fans love — without turning the meal into a whole production,” Taco Bell wrote in a press release.
The brand has had several fajita items over the years, including a Steak Fajita Sandwich in the 80s and fajita burritos. It remains to be seen if the new, limited-time offerings will eventually become permanent menu fixtures.

Taco Bell noted that the limited-time offering was inspired, in part, by the Internet’s love of fajitas.
“The Internet’s ongoing fascination with fajita ‘drama’ only reinforces what Taco Bell has known for years: Fans are obsessed with fajita flavor,” the press release read.
The Fajita Street Chalupas feature the traditional tender peppers and onions, seasoned with chili, onion and garlic inside Taco Bell’s signature cheesy Street Chalupa shells. They are served as a pair, with diners choosing either marinated steak or slow-roasted chicken as filling.
Meanwhile, the Chicken Fajita Nacho Fries “bring a fajita spin to Taco Bell’s cult-favorite golden, crisp Nacho Fries,” according to the press release. The new nachos are seasoned with Mexican-inspired spices and feature slow-roasted chicken, fresh peppers and onions, jalapeno sauce, reduced-fat sour cream and nacho cheese.

The Fajita Street Chalupas are priced at $5.99, while the Chicken Fajita Nacho Fries go for $5.49, at participating locations for a limited time online, the chain said.
Taco Bell recently introduced another twist on a classic menu item. In late May, the chain added a Cantina Chicken Mexican Pizza to the menu for a limited time, adding slow-roasted chicken to the fan-favorite Mexican pizza.
Taco Bell revealed it was reimagining its Mexican Pizza during its yearly Live Más Live event in March. Along with the Cantina Chicken version, the company will launch Mexican Pizza Empanadas and Strawberry & Cream Mexican Pizza Bites.
During Live Más Live, Taco Bell announced 20 new items that are set to launch in the U.S. this year. The line-up includes Cheesy G Sliders, a smaller take on the Cheesy Gordita Crunch, as well as the Queso Cracked Cantina Bowl and the spicy Firecracker Burrito.
